The battle for midseason viewers on the broadcast end of the TV listings has resulted in some, er, interesting time slot match ups as the Big Four + The CW place new offerings against tried-and-true fare.
“Will iZombie Feast on Agent Carter” is the way Adweek’s Sam Thielman summed up the situation, pointing out one the more offbeat pairings on the schedule.
Of course, having shows that appeal to wildly different demographics could make the task of marketing new shows in our hyper-competitive TV landscape that much easier. After all, Fox’s Empire, which has the family drama dialed up to 100 percent, seems to be 180-degrees from ABC’s feel-good family sitcom block (they’re head-to-head Wednesdays at 9 p.m.)
But with Empire turning out to be a ratings juggernaut with broad appeal, the two audiences might not be as different as they appear at first glance.
