Professional choreographer Will “WilldaBeast” Adams goes on a mission to find the next underground dance star and put them on the map for the world to see in YouTube Red’s One Shot.
The unscripted dance show takes viewers off the stage, and into the streets of Miami as WilldaBeast discovers raw talent in small rehearsal spaces and living rooms across the city.
His search culminates in a breakout dance music video, where he teams up with YouTube director Tim Milgram on a signature piece designed to give a dancer their “one shot” at a career in the industry.
The series from digital studio Portal A is filmed in a gritty, verité format and set entirely on the dancers’ home turf.
“One Shot has been a passion project of ours and we’re thrilled to be getting it out into the world with YouTube Red,” said Nate Houghteling, co-founder of Portal A and executive producer of the series along with Kai Hasson and Zach Blume. “It brings together much of what we love about making original series – the opportunity to partner with breakout talent like WilldaBeast and tell fresh stories in a non-traditional way.”
Having built his career on social media and YouTube, WilldaBeast brings his understanding for what it takes to make it in a new landscape and an appreciation for the mentorship position he’s reached.
“As someone who elevated their career and created a lane that didn’t exist by using YouTube, One Shot offered me a special opportunity to pay it forward and contribute to the dance community that has given me so much over the years,” he said in a statement.
One Shot premieres February 15 on YouTube Red.
