During the BET Awards on Sunday, Amazon Prime Video rolled out the trailer for its Jay-Z-produced docuseries, Free Meek.

The five-part series chronicles the incarceration of Meek Mill, the Philadelphia rapper who’s faced the legal system since he was 19. Through his story and interviews with executive producer Jay-Z, author and CNN political correspondent Van Jones and more, the series takes an in-depth look at the injustices within America’s probation and parole system.

“The system tries to put Meek Mill on trial,” Jones says in the trailer. “But Meek says ‘no, I’m going to put the system on trial.‘”

Back in 2007, Meek—now an activist for prison reform—received a drug and weapons charge that resulted in a nearly decade-long probation sentence. In 2017, he received a two-to-four-year sentence for probation violation; however, after serving five months, his sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Free Meek will recount the rapper’s experience, similar incidents and its effect on society when it launches Aug. 9 on Amazon Prime Video.
