​Twitter Counter, the statistics website powered by Twitter, revealed the top 20 most popular brands on the social site this week, and media and sports companies like YouTube, CNN and FC Barcelona continue to top the list.

The top five are steadily YouTube, Instagram, Twitter itself, CNN Breaking News and Twitter en español, followed by TV brands including CNN, MTV, BBC Breaking News and ESPN. Sports teams FC Barcelona and Real Madrid FC also made the top 20.

Brief Take: The number of followers a brand has online isn’t always the most important part to a successful social strategy, but it certainly helps. As Twitter woos TV, TV brands should have the opportunity to boost their numbers.
