Companion shows, or “aftershows,” that supplement and help promote popular series are becoming increasingly common, with the latest installment accompanying ABC‘s new super-hero drama, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

The weekly digital program, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: Declassified,” will run every Monday morning across ABC.com, Marvel.com, WatchABC.com and the network’s Watch ABC app for smartphones and tablets. Hosted by comedian Brett Ehrlich, it will present humorous recaps and other featurettes designed to maximize chatter and get fans prepped for the next episode on the following Tuesday.

“Declassified” will also benefit from a major partnership with Verizon, which will feature prominently in the aftershow and receive billing as the flagship show’s presenting sponsor. Verizon’s branding will pop up on WatchABC.com as well as its tablet and smartphone app via live stream and VOD airings of “S.H.I.E.L.D.” episodes, and the company will sponsor an online hub for “Declassified” where fans can chat about the show and find an array of live social feeds, Twitter polls, sharable clips and other accompaniments to the digital series.
