ABC’s extended trailer for season five of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. finds the team stranded on a mysterious ship in outer space.

“And that’s just the beginning of the nightmare to come,” the network says. The promo reveals an alien predator as Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of his team adjust to their new surroundings, new characters and new threats.

In addition to Gregg, the series stars Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie and Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez.

Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen are co-creators who also executive produce along with Jeffrey Bell, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory.

Season five will debut with a two-hour special premiere on December 1 at 8 p.m.

ABC also revealed photos (posted above) from the first three episodes of season five which are titled “Orientation Part 1,” “Orientation Part 2,” and “A Life Spent.”
