Sonic branding agency Man Made Music created the music behind TV Land’s update of “Candid Camera,” premiering Monday, Aug. 11 at 8 pm ET.
The show, co-hosted by longtime host Peter Funt and “The Big Bang Theory”’s Mayim Bialik, is a refresh of the classic program that first launched in 1948. Older viewers will remember the series’ catch-phrase: “Smile, you’re on Candid Camera,” which unwitting participants heard after some prank had been played on them and the show caught their reactions. To update the theme, Man Made Music employed a combination of real instruments as well as sparse synthetic elements. Man Made also drew inspiration from current trends in pop and hip-hop to craft a fresh and modern, but still recognizable, theme.
“We still get to hear that signature ‘Smile! You’re on Candid Camera’ phrase, and hope audiences new and old will appreciate our spin on the iconic theme,” said Joel Beckerman, founder and lead composer, Man Made Music, in a statement.
