Lawrence Cumbo has joined Pixeldust Studios, a digital animation and broadcast production studio, as senior vice president of development and content, said Ricardo Andrade, president and creative director of Pixeldust Studios. Cumbo will bring to Pixeldust an active development slate of more than 30 projects.

Over the past twenty-five years, Andrade and Cumbo have forged a close friendship, which began when they first worked together producing indie films, live events and studio-based programming. Cumbo’s arrival at Pixeldust positions the company to grow its original production capabilities.

Pixeldust aims to produce original TV series, specials and sponsored content for broadcast and subscription video on demand (SVOD) services, as well as to continue creating original virtual reality, 360-degree, augmented reality and live-stream programming.

“Lawrence and I have enjoyed a remarkably successful relationship for more than 25 years now,” said Andrade in a statement. “He is the ideal executive to be joining our company as we seek to expand our original productions and our entertainment division. Now with Lawrence joining us, we are positioned for huge growth in the development and production of original television specials and series especially designed for SVOD streaming outlets.”

Cumbo brings a decade of experience as a showrunner and executive producer for Smithsonian Channel, National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery, TLC, A&E, and BIO Channel.
