Comedian Jim Jefferies will host a weekly late-night series for Comedy Central this summer, said Kent Alterman, president, Comedy Central, on Friday.

“Jim has a huge comedic voice on the global stage,” said Alterman in a statement. “During development, we also learned his talent is only surpassed by his incredible work ethic.”

“I’d like to thank Comedy Central for this incredible opportunity,” said Jefferies, also in a statement. “It’s always been a dream of mine to do a show in this arena and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve got planned.”

Stand-up comic Jefferies hails from Australia and has just come off of a series of comedy specials and an international tour, “The Unusual Punishment Tour.”

The half-hour late-night series will be executive produced by Jefferies, Scott Zabielski, and Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ Alex Murray and Tim Sarkes. Jason Reich (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee) is co-executive producer and head writer.

Jefferies’ show is the second to be announced this week, with Chris Hardwick launching a late-night weekly talk show, Talking with Chris Hardwick, on AMC April 11.
