DISH named former JP Morgan Chase executive Jay Roth to senior vice president and chief marketing officer, where he will lead the company in marketing, advertising and consumer insights.
Roth will report to Warren Schlichting, DISH’s executive vice president of marketing, programming and media sales. He replaces James Moorhead who left the company last year for a CMO position at car-insurance startup Metromile. Roth will start at DISH later this summer.
“DISH is all about challenging the pay-TV industry’s status quo,” Schlichting said in a press release. “We believe Jay’s precision marketing experience and approach to the entire 360-degree consumer experience will be a strong complement to DISH’s bias towards innovation and service in the highly competitive pay-TV landscape.”
Roth has held senior marketing and acquisition roles at JP Morgan Chase for the past decade, where he’s successfully led metric-driven marketing campaigns to grow the company’s customer base, improve the quality of accounts created and increase existing customer interaction with products and services. He recently led direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for Chase’s consumer banking and home lending organizations.
Prior to his time at Chase, he led acquisition and retention efforts across auto, mortgage and home equity divisions at Bank One, which Chase acquired in 2004.
“I’m proud to join a company with the vision to break through new frontiers,” Roth said. “And I’m excited to lead DISH’s marketing organization as we navigate a changing pay-TV environment.”
