The UK’s ITV2 is taking a new approach to getting people to donate blood: it’s recruiting some of Halloween’s best.
I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp hosts Emily Atack and Joel Dommett are on the case, interviewing potential monsters—aka ITV celebrities dressed for the parts—to be part of this year’s Blood Squad. Those British TV celebs include Love Island’s Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague, Ibiza Weekender’s Jordan Davies and David Potts, musician Lady Leshurr and Dr. Alex George.
Last year was the campaign’s first year, and it encouraged 31,000 people to register with the UK’s National Health Service as blood donors, a 19 percent increase compared to 2018.
“We need 400 people to register as new donors every day to maintain the blood supply for the best chance of keeping patients alive,” Mike Stredder, director of blood donation at NHS Blood and Transplant told Campaign. “For many reasons, it’s vital that young people continue to register and donate—particularly young men – not least because older people become less likely to be able to donate blood.”
Developed by ITV Creative, the campaign will run on air, in theaters and across digital and social media from October 17 through Halloween.
