Seven years ago, Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie’s (Lily Tomlin) husbands, who were best friends and law partners, shocked them at dinner when they revealed that they were leaving the two women ... for each other.
“It’s been a crazy ride,” Grace says to Frankie, “but I’d rather take a crazy ride with you than a normal ride with anybody else.”
Since then, uptight Grace and hippie Frankie have turned their unlikely pairing into a best friendship that’s gotten them through all sorts of scraps and mishaps. They’ve had new relationships – “I went from being a woman who didn’t know her husband was gay to being a woman who didn’t know her husband was a criminal!” Grace grumbles at one point, to which Frankie responds, “Next time, just marry a gay criminal and check off all the boxes” – started new businesses, including a sex-toy mail-order operation for mature women, and done magic mushrooms together.
Now, “we are not done yet, and the best is yet to come!” says Grace as the trailer ends.
Besides Fonda and Tomlin, Grace and Frankie also stars Martin Sheen Robert, Sam Waterston, Baron Vaughn, Ethan Embry, Brooklyn Decker, June Diane Raphael, Peter Cambor, Lindsey Kraft, Marsha Mason, Tim Bagley, Peter Gallagher and Christine Woods.
Grace and Frankie is created and executive produced by Marta Kauffman (Friends) and Howard J. Morris. It’s also executive produced by Robbie Tollin, Hannah KS Canter, Fonda, Tomlin, Marcy Ross, Paula Weinstein and Skydance Television’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost.
The series’ final episodes premiere April 29 on Netflix.
