After setting a record for longest-running scripted sitcom in television history with season 15 (beating The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet), FXX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia with everybody’s favorite gang from South Philly returns for a 16th go-round.
The pandemic is largely over and now the gang at Paddy’s Pub needs to figure out what comes next. Of course, the answer presents itself: star on a reality TV show about a bar!
“I don’t want to be on a show that makes us look like jerks,” says Dee (Caitlin Olson), voicing the well-founded fear of all would-be reality stars.
“I’d hate it if they like edited it and like made me look dumb or something,” Charlie (executive producer and co-creator Charlie Day) agrees.
The above trailer also teases guest appearances by Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, although they are unfortunately getting a ride in Charlie’s vomit-scented Uber.
The show also stars Rob McElhenney as Ronald “Mac” MacDonald, Glenn Howerton as Dennis Reynolds and Danny DeVito as Frank Reynods.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is executive produced by creator McElhenney along with Day, Howerton, Michael Rotenberg, Nick Frenkel, Megan Ganz, Rob Rosell, David Hornsby, Scott Marder and Victor Hsu for FX Productions.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia debuts season 16 on Wednesday, June 7 on FXX and streaming the next day on Hulu.
