Name: Patalia Tate

Title: VP Creative Strategy & Marketing, Scripps Networks Interactive

Could you summarize your session in 5 words? Sharing insights for moving forward.

What other speaker are you most interested in seeing at PromaxBDA: The Conference this year?

Larry Flynt: Boy, oh boy, that should be interesting.

Stephanie Gibbons: I love what’s happening at FX!

Piers Morgan: I’m curious about the changes going on at CNN and wonder what’s the next phase for the news business.

Scot Safon: Ditto above about changes in news business.

How do you watch television content? Apple TV – movies, series, documentaries. iPad – I am a binger! TV in living room at times as background (I like to catch up on my mags; toss toys to my cat).

What is your greatest creative achievement so far? Launching COOKING CHANNEL. I was so proud to be part of that team – love the challenge of launching new channels!

How do you stay inspired? Watching other brands’ creative; reading life stories of overachievers: e.g., Steve Jobs, among others; getting lost in thought while hiking; traveling; walking around NYC; singing country music tunes in the shower (actually more like screeching).

How did you get your start in this industry? My very first job in Memphis, TN in promotion at WDIA Radio, followed by WRVR in Memphis. I moved to Texas to the No. 1 country radio station KIKK FM/AM. My first job in TV was KHOU CBS affiliate in Houston, followed by stint at KERA in Dallas as writer producer. I moved to NYC in 1993 to work at A&E Networks. I was part of the team that launched a brand new channel called History Channel. Now I am at SCRIPPS Networks, where I’ve worked on a number of single channels: Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel; currently the entire Scripps portfolio.
