Scripps-owned WRTV in Indianapolis has a whole new look, with a ‘crazy-flexible’ set designed to adapt to breaking news and evolving programming needs.
The ABC affiliate known as RTV6 didn’t want anything to do with the cliches of local news sets: no brick and stone, no fake skylines, and no duras.
Instead, viewers now see a set that uses gloss white with blue accents, wide video walls, multiple monitors, and color-changing LEDs.
“With the new set we have a versatile work space that allows us to come up with creative ways to showcase our stories,” said WRTV News Director Terri Cope-Walton of the set designed by FX Design Group. “The addition of the lighting changes enhances our viewers’ experience by giving them a visual cue when we have breaking news.” A StormTeam6 weather center features a giant monitor weather presentation area that doubles as a multi-purpose stage for all storytelling. Aside from the traditional green screen, the updated weather center also features four weather systems and a standing desk for severe storm tracking.
