“Through the dark gulfs where no one goes, through the emptiness, through the the silence” the spacecraft—or what’s on board it—is always watching in Syfy’s psychological thriller Nightflyers.

Set in the year 2093, it follows a team of scientists as they embark on a mission to find other life forms in the solar system. Unfortunately for them, another life form finds them and it’s hostile and already on their ship.

In a spot that incorporates reality-bending VFX, creative agency Cause+Effect focused on a monologue inspired by the novella by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, on which the series is based.

In the promo, the narrator assumes the voice of the alien life on board the spacecraft: “I see everything … I am everywhere,” it says throughout clips of the mysteries and horror to come.

The series stars Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Gretchen Mol, Jodie Turner-Smith, Angus Sampson, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, and Brían F. O’Byrne.

Martin serves as an executive producer. Jeff Buhler wrote the adaptation for television and is the showrunner and executive producer, alongside Gene Klein, David Bartis and Doug Liman of Hypnotic who also executive produce. Brian Nelson, Mike Cahill and Andrew McCarthy serve as executive producers. Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta of Gaeta Rosenzweig Films, and Lloyd Ivan Miller and Alice P. Neuhauser of Lloyd Ivan Miller Productions also serve as executive producers.

Nightflyers is produced by Universal Cable Productions and co-produced by Netflix.

It premieres December 2 on Syfy.
