If singing masked celebrities weren’t enough for you, not to worry! This December, Fox expands on the franchise with The Masked Dancer.
The above teaser reveals that season one’s costumes include tulip, costume candy, exotic bird, grasshopper and more.
Craig Robinson hosts the competition series, which finds costumed celebrities dancing their hearts out before a panel composed of The Masked Singer’s Ken Jeong, American Idol’s Paula Abdul, former Masked Singer participant Brian Austin Green and actress and singer Ashley Tisdale.
In The Masked Dancer, the contestants will be joined on stage by equally elaborately costumed partners and back-up dancers as they perform all sorts of dances from salsa to hip-hop, waltz to tap dancing. Each week, a series of clues will be sprinkled throughout packages, costumes and routines, leading the panelists one step closer to figuring out exactly who are behind the masks.
“We’ve begun filming The Masked Dancer with incredible new talent on both sides of the mask, and can’t wait to share the series with viewers,” said Rob Wade, president, alternative entertainment and specials, Fox Entertainment, in a statement. “Craig Robinson is hilarious as always in his role as host, and Ken, Brian, Ashley and Paula are the perfect blend of personalities to lead our awesomely weird world of masks into a whole new genre!”
The Masked Dancer is produced by Fox Alternative Entertainment and Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television and is based on the South Korean format, The Masked Singer, created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp. James Breen, Craig Plestis, Dan Martin and Ellen DeGeneres are executive producers of the series with Breen serving as showrunner.
