Late-night TV suffered a great loss this week with the last episode of Jon Stewart hosting The Daily Show airing on Comedy Central Thursday night. But TV fans won’t let that hold them back – there is plenty to binge watch this weekend to keep everyone’s hopes up.

Lifetime Translates Binge Viewers into Live TV Fans with Periscope:
With a binge-viewing strategy for the first four episodes of UnREAL, Lifetime needed a way to bring in live viewers for episode five. For a live element Lifetime’s VP of Social Media Ann Marie Granite is calling “appointment social,” the cast Periscoped the episode with press partners for that episode as well as the season finale.

TCA: Paul Lee Seeks Passion and Diversity at ABC:
Paul Lee, president of ABC Entertainment Group took the stage at the TCA summer press tour to tout the success of #TGIT and upcoming Muppets series. “We’re obviously very pleased with the year we had last year,” Lee said, pointing to the 10 Emmy nominations for John Ridley’s American Crime and the numbers for #TGIT.

TCA: Buzz Trumps Ratings For Amazon:
Roy Price, head of Amazon Studios, joins Morgan Wandell, head of drama, and Joe Lewis, head of comedy to talk about the big names coming to the streaming platform. Woody Allen and the Top Gear team will join the Amazon team soon, along with the second season of the award-winning Transparent.

For those who think the conversation around broadcast is sinking into the wake left by the streaming speedboat, Fox Television Group co-chair Dana Walden opened the network’s TCA executive session on Thursday by pointing to the contrary: The phenomenal rise of Empire.
