PromaxBDA: The Conference 2015 is just days away, so let’s recap just a few of the things Brief covered this week introducing speakers, covering sessions and presenting ideas leading into the event.

In an interview with Brief, book cover designer Chip Kidd shared his insight into creating a design for a changing medium (sound familiar?). The awards jury gave a glimpse of what it’s like to judge one campaign against another. Designer Scott Thomas spoke about marketing, design and disrupting the collective (waning) attention span.

Check out below anything else you may have missed that will get you ready and excited for The Conference next week.

The Conference 2015: Chip Kidd:
Chip Kidd rose to fame with his book jacket design for Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park, an image that became an icon when it became a central part of Universal’s branding for the film version.

Since then, Kidd has designed book covers for David Sedaris, Haruki Murakami, John Updike and many more in his three decades at Alfred A. Knopf. He has just one image to spark a reader’s interest – read more to learn how that applies to TV branding and what inspiration he’s taken from the screen.

Netflix CEO: ‘No advertising coming onto Netflix. Period.’:
Reed Hastings took to Facebook this week to clear up rumors that Netflix is testing ads on its service. Pre-episode promos may start appearing to promote other Netflix original shows, but no advertising will touch that platform ever, according to the CEO.

The Conference 2015: Scott Thomas:
Scott Thomas, AKA SimpleScott, served as design director for the 2008 Obama campaign. Since then, he launched Simple.Honest.Work, whose projects include overhauling Fast Company’s digital platform and streamlining Nike.com into a searchable, frictionless experience. See what else Thomas has to say about using marketing as a disruption tool at PromaxBDA: The Conference 2015.

CBS to Debut Showtime OTT Service in July:
Priced at $10.99 per month CBS’ Showtime over-the-top service will coincide with the season premieres of the network’s Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex. Apple will be the service’s first partner when it launches July 12.
