January 2015 is quickly becoming the month of rebrands.

With Canada’s W Network updating its look, TV Guide Network switching to Pop and Discovery Fit & Health changing to Discovery Life, these are only the first of network branding projects of 2015 - and we’re only two weeks in! Be sure to keep up with Brief for the latest in creative changes on air.

And before everyone prepares for the next awards shows to come, Brief throws out a big congratulations to the winners of Sunday’s Golden Globes!

Golden Globes Shine Spotlight on Changed Industry:
Sunday’s big wins for streaming services and fresh talent at The Golden Globes offered the latest evidence that television is changed for good. (Notably absent from the list of winners mounting the stage at the Beverly Hilton: anyone from the Big Four broadcast networks.)

It was left to The CW and PBS to represent the broadcast television community, with the former snagging its first trophy ever thanks to Gina Rodriguez‘s win in the Best Actress in a TV Comedy/Musical category (Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt took home a supporting actress win for PBS).

TCA: CBS Pitches Its Evolution:
CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler touts new programming and an ever-changing network finding a younger demo.

CSI: Cyber, the latest spin-off from the granddaddy of the aforementioned procedurals, will be “very relevant” and “very topical” as it tackles cyber crimes, Tassler said. The network announced Monday that the new Late Show with Stephen Colbert will debut on Sept. 8, although she was tight-lipped when pressed for more details about the show. Current CBS late night king David Letterman will be retiring from his perch on May 20, capping a 22-year run.

Three freshman CBS dramas—Scorpion, Madam Secretary and NCIS: New Orleans—were also picked up for a second season.

Creative Review: Plenty:
The founders of Plenty, a Buenos Aires-based studio, say that one of the company’s best qualities is that it just won’t sit still. It will forever keep growing, expanding and learning – defining themselves not with a specific aesthetic but instead with an open-minded, meticulous strategy to each and every single part of the creative process.

The design and motion animation studio was founded in 2010 by Art Director Pablo Alfieri and Motion Director Mariano Farias, two creatives who had worked together previously as freelancers in Argentina. Since then, Plenty has added two more partners to the group, Producer Ines Palmas and Lead Animator Hernan Estevez, steadily growing with its number of clients on both the advertising and TV branding sides of its business.

Brand/Rebrand: Pop:
On Jan. 14, TV Guide Network, co-owned by CBS Corporation and Lionsgate, switches over to Pop. The newly rebranded network will launch upwards of nine original programs, 400 hours of programming, along with a modern new look and feel with just a pinch of nostalgia.

Pop worked with Loyalkasar and Audience Theory on the rebrand that took TV Guide to Pop - “we’re fans too.”

Brand Refresh: Discovery Life:
The elements of Discovery Fit & Health’s refresh reflect a programming slate that ranges from the bizarre real-life labor scenarios in Outrageous Births: Tales From the Crib to Hoarding: Behind Closed Doors, a psychological exploration of extreme hoarders and a quest for their cure.

Changing the name from Discovery Fit and Health to Discovery Life, said Seybert, “gives us more flexibility to be able to continue on with that great medical and health programming but then also try some new things.” It also gave the marketing team “a great chance to do some concept stuff, to ask ourselves ‘what can we do that really stands apart creatively on our network and makes people go, ‘oh, that’s interesting.’”

HOT SPOT: 10 o´clock show:
