If you’ve ever wondered what happened to Charles Dickens’ The Artful Dodger after the events of Oliver Twist, Hulu’s series based on the prince of thieves’ double life in Australia will answer those questions.

In the series, The Artful Dodger, Jack Dawkins (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) has migrated to Port Victory, Australia, and turned his pickpocketing fingers into skilled surgical hands. His past comes back to haunt him, however, when sadistic (and possibly crazy) crew leader, Fagin (David Thewlis), turns up to lure Dodger back into a life of crime. Complicating matters is the Governor’s daughter, Lady Bell (Maia Mitchell), who is determined to become the colony’s first female surgeon.

Besides those three, the cast also features an all-star lineup of Australian talent, including Damon Herriman, Tim Minchin, Miranda Tapsell, Susie Porter, Damien Garvey, Kym Gyngell and Vivienne Awosoga as well as New Zealand’s Albert Latailakepa.

The Artful Dodger is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures. It’s produced by Beach Road Pictures. The series is created by James McNamara, David Maher and David Taylor. Jo Porter represents Curio Pictures as executive producer, while Maher and Taylor represent Beach Road Pictures as executive producers. McNamara, co-creator, co-executive producer and writer; Andrew Knight, co-executive producer and writer; Jeffrey Walker, co-executive producer and director, and Ross Allsop, producer, complete the producing team.

The Artful Dodger premieres November 29 on Hulu.
