Reality TV parody “The Hotwives of Orlando” (Real glamour, real drama, fake boobs) is just one of the new comedy series added to Hulu’s slate this year. The streaming service announced today its original programming slate for 2014, and it’s full of comedy and reality.

“Hotwives” will debut this year with Casey Wilson, Angela Kinsey, Kristen Schaal and TV parody guru Paul Scheer.


Also new to Hulu and Hulu Plus is “Deadbeat,” which is billed as a supernatural comedy starring “Reaper” star Tyler Labine and “So You Think You Can Dance” host Cat Deeley. The new series will be co-produced with Lionsgate.

The streaming site will also add the original version of “Bridge,” adapted last year by FX, and a reality dance series called “The Next Step.”

Returning to Hulu in 2014 is a second season of “The Awesomes,” an animated superhero project created with Seth Meyers, Chris O’Dowd’s “Moone Boy,” the comedy/western “Quick Draw,” sports documentary series “Behind the Mask” and high school show “East Los High.”

Brief Take: Hulu’s renewal of 12 returning series shows the streaming giant has faith when it comes to its “Hulu Originals,” and through its partnerships with well known names and TV brands, says that it wants to compete with the Netflix original slate.
