This year, the only thing you have to fear is … pretty much every holiday ever in Hulu’s Into the Dark.
The event series from Blumhouse (The Purge) will debut a new episode every month that offers a terrifying take on the celebration of the moment.
It will begin appropriately on October 5 for Halloween, followed by Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. The series will tackle the obvious: think Valentine’s Day and Independence Day—as well the more obscure: Earth Day, National Grandparents Day and Casimir Pulaski Day.
The first episode, “The Body” features “a sophisticated hitman with a cynical view on modern society [who] finds his work made more difficult when he has to transport a body on Halloween night, but everyone is enamored by what they think is his killer costume.”
It stars Tom Bateman, Rebecca Rittenhouse, David Hull, Aurora Perrineau and Ray Santiago, and was written by Paul Fischer and Paul Davis (who also directs). The episode will also world premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival on Sept. 21.
The “Flesh and Blood” Thanksgiving episode, premiering Nov. 2, follows “Kimberly, a teenager suffering from agoraphobia, [who] has not left the house since her mother’s unsolved murder. On the eve of Thanksgiving, anniversary of the murder, Kimberly begins to suspect that she is in danger. Is Kimberly going mad cloistered in a home she can’t bring herself to leave; or is the safe harbor of home and doting father a dangerous mirage?”
It’s written by Louis Ackerman, directed by Patrick Lussier and stars Dermot Mulroney, Diana Silvers, Tembi Locke and Meredith Salenger
Episodes will continue to debut throughout the next frightening year.
