Streaming service Hulu is quickly building out its offering of live events, streaming such things as music festivals, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, as well as Pride parades and activities in New York and Los Angeles.

Now, Hulu is adding the 2022 Essence Festival happening live and virtually from New Orleans June 30 - July 3, marking the first time the festival has been available on a streaming platform. The offerings will run July 1 - 3 from 7 p.m. - midnight CDT and include select daytime programming, such as panel discussions, as well as evening musical performances for Hulu’s subscription-based subscribers to enjoy at no extra cost.

Hulu also will have an on-site presence at the Festival, providing guests with an immersive experience at “The Rink @ The Hulu Motel,” a roller-skating rink filled with interactive touchpoints, giveaways, and content-themed bites and drinks. Skaters also will be treated to live performances by DJ Ohso and DJ Diamond Kuts. The three-day activation will be open July 1-3 from noon - 7:00 pm CDT to guests 21+ at the New Orleans Civic Theater.

Hulu majority owner, The Walt Disney Company, is the exclusive entertainment sponsor of the 2022 Essence Festival, expanding on a decade-long partnership to offer talent, exclusive screenings, panels, and experiences from across the company’s brands, including ABC, ABC News, Disney+, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Disney Television Studios, Disney Studios Content, ESPN, FX, Freeform, Hulu, Marvel Studios, National Geographic, Onyx Collective, Pixar and Walt Disney World Resort. Specific programming, experiences and talent appearances will be announced at a later date.

Interested parties can still register to attend the Essence Festival virtually or in person.
