Miami-based 2C Creative took Velocity’s automotive transformation series, Bitchin’ Rides, on a cinematic spin for the show’s season-three premiere.

The goal was to produce a spot that married host Dave Kindig’s larger-than-life persona with the details and craftsmanship of his artistry. To accomplish this, 2C juxtaposed the spot’s pacing, blending slow shots of Kindig with fast clips of the beautifully-renovated classic cars.

To capture the running footage featured in the Bitchin’ Rides promo, 2C used two Alexa Mini cameras and a Ronin gyroscopically stabilized camera platform. Without an ultra arm or process trailer, 2C created a car-to-car camera rig that allowed the team to get the dynamic running footage they needed. The Utah Motorsports Campus provided a perfect backdrop, with its desert-based track showcasing each of the pristine cars.

In post-production, 2C went for more of an action-film feel to heighten the cinematic quality. The footage was edited in Adobe Premiere and color corrected in Davinci, with some of the flare work done in AfterEffects.

2C also did the season launch for Velocity’s Wheeler Dealers.

Season three of Bitchin’ Rides premieres Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 9/8 c.
