After years of airing repeats of documentary true-crime series Forensic Files, HLN is finally rolling out 16 new half-hour episodes of the series in February 2020.
The network had to get the rights from the original producers and rights holders before they could go forward, CNN EVP Ken Jautz told Variety, but they were finally able to come to terms on a deal.
In recent years, HLN has been moving away from the headline-news content that gave the network its original name and toward true crime. Forensic Files, even in repeats, is the network’s highest-rated program.
Forensic Files originally debuted as a series called Medical Detectives in 1996 on TLC, which is now part of Discovery. It eventually moved to CourtTV and was renamed Forensic Files.
Forensic Files II premieres February 2020 on HLN.
