Black History Month has “history” as its middle name, which is why it makes perfect sense for A+E Networks’ The History Channel to offer a month-long linear and digital campaign featuring important moments in Black history.

The channel kicked off Black History Month with special Tuskegee Airmen: Legacy of Courage executive produced by Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts, whose father was part of the group of Black men who exemplified bravery in battle abroad and bravery in the fight for racial justice at home.

In connection with the special, Roberts invites viewers to participate in the #SaveOurHistory initiative by sharing on Instagram or Twitter photos and videos of people in their families and communities who have made an impact on Black history. Posters can tag their posts with #saveourhistory to join the conversation and visit history.com/saveourhistory to upload their photos and videos.

History, working with Brooklyn-based design agency Rescue Vessel, also created several 15- and 20-second spots that provide a quick primer on important moments in Black history, as part of its ongoing “More to History” and “This Week in History” campaigns.
