Hilda García has been named vice president of digital local news at Univision, while Fernando Mexia has been promoted to senior director, managing editor of entertainment. Both executives report to Juan Pablo Convers, senior vice president, digital content and editorial operations.

In her new role, García will drive Univision’s digital strategy for local news across all 16 markets focused on growing and building community, editorial vision, setting new standards of quality, and working closely with news directors on their local initiatives. García joined Univision in 2015 and has more than thirty years of experience in the media industry. She also co-authored a digital marketing how-to book titled “E-X-I-T-O: Su Estrategia de Marketing en 5 Pasos” (Success: Your Marketing Strategy in 5 Steps), published in 2013.

Mexia’s new role will include management of Univision Digital’s editorial entertainment team based in three different countries; the ideation and execution of new editorial products for Univision.com and social media platforms; and partnering with the linear team to create digital extensions of TV brands on digital platforms. Mexia joined Univision in 2015 and has more than twenty years of experience as a journalist.
