Apple TV Plus’ anthology series Roar tells the somewhat absurdist stories of eight women, all of whom find they need to roar in their own ways.

Issa Rae (Insecure) is a successful novelist who finds that no one can hear her speaking, while Nicole Kidman (Nine Perfect Strangers) is a woman who eats the photos that contain her memories. Cynthia Erivo (Genius: Aretha) is a successful executive with a painful secret, while Betty Gilpin is a woman who is literally being put on a shelf by her husband (G.L.O.W.).

Based on the best-selling book by Ceceila Ahern, the series comes from the creators and producers of Netflix’s G.L.O.W— Carly Mensch and Liz Flahive. It also stars Merritt Wever (Run), Alison Brie (G.L.O.W.), Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart, Kara Hayward, Daniel Dae Kim, Jake Johnson, Jason Mantzoukas and Hugh Dancy.

The trailer is set to Yonaka’s “Seize the Power.”

Roar is produced for Apple by Endeavor Content.
