After seven seasons of brutal deaths, fiery dragons and epic battles, HBO finally released the trailer for the last season of Game of Thrones, offering a first look at the fiery (icy?) battle to come.

The highly anticipated spot, which follows a series of teasers from HBO, shows the hardened characters as they prepare for the long-awaited war with the forces of winter. We see soldiers lining up on the dark battlefield, Jaime promising to fight for the living, Jon Snow brooding (per usual) over “our enemy,” and Arya Stark preparing for bloodshed.

“I know death,” Stark says.“He’s got many faces. I look forward to seeing this one.”

The final season of the Emmy-winning drama comes after a nearly two-year hiatus, leaving fans anxiously awaiting the show’s massive final battle and resolution of who will claim the Iron Throne.

The season is only six episodes long, but each one has been described as its own feature-length film. The battle also is expected to be the longest consecutive action sequence in cinema history.

Witness the battle unfold April 14 on HBO.
