HBO, RAI Fiction and Timvision capture the beauty of Elana Ferrante’s best-selling series of novels in the official trailer for original series My Brilliant Friend, debuting Sunday, Nov. 18 on HBO.

The series, directed by Saverio Costanzo, stars newcomers Elisa Del Genio and Ludovica Nasti as the girls Elena Greco and Raffaella “Lila” Cerullo. Elena and Lila meet in their first year of primary school in 1950 and remain part of each other’s lives as both friends and rivals until Lila seems to disappear without a trace some 50 years later.
The series is set in Naples and shot in Italian with English subtitles.
