HBO Max is making the first season of storied series The Sopranos available for free on the app ahead of the Oct. 1 theatrical release of prequel film The Many Saints of Newark. Viewers can check out the series without subscribing to the service through Oct. 8.

The Many Saints of Newark—from Sopranos creator David Chase and starring James Gandolfini’s son, Michael, as a young Tony Soprano—will be available on the advertising-free tier of HBO Max throughout October. The movie tells the story of how young, impressionable Tony Soprano followed his adored uncle Dickie Moltisanti into a life of violent organized crime.

HBO Max also has launched a Sopranos spotlight page on the app to celebrate the series. The page includes “curation trays,” such as essential episodes, the evolution of Tony Soprano, the women of The Sopranos, and New Jersey.

After the movie premieres, the page will transition to a Many Saints of Newark page, highlighting relevant series and films to stream on the app.
