Sparks fly when Jessie (Rose Matafeo) meets Tom (Nikesh Patel) one night in a bar, but little does she know that Tom is actually a famous movie star while she’s just a millennial trying to make ends meet working two dead-end jobs in East London. What starts as what Jessie thinks will just be an amusing anecdote to retell at parties becomes something more difficult to explain as the two realize they can’t stay away from each other.

The series also stars Sindhu Vee, Emma Sidi and Minnie Driver.

New Zealand-born Matafeo starred in Taika Waititi’s feature film Baby, Done and has written and starred in many British and New Zealand series and performed on TBS’ Conan.

The romantic comedy is co-written by Matafeo and Alice Snedden and produced by London-, Los Angeles- and New York-based talent management and production company Avalon. The series is executive produced by Matafeo, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner and Rob Aslett. Toby Welch is series producer. Karen Maine directed all six episodes.

The series starts streaming on HBO Max on June 10.
