HBO Max’s Doom Patrol, which aired its first two seasons on the now-extinct DC Universe streaming service, returns for season three with all of its off-kilter superheroes: Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) and Cyborg (Joivan Wade), all led by The Chief (Timothy Dalton).

The above trailer has a distinctly comic-book vibe, throwing a bunch of animated Easter eggs at the viewer as it focuses on the series’ main characters.

Season three opens with the Doom Patrol at a crossroads as each member struggles to face who they are and who they ultimately want to be. And things get even more complicated when Madame Rouge (Michelle Gomez) arrives in a time machine with a very specific mission to complete ... if only she could remember what it is.

Doom Patrol is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television with Jeremy Carver, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Chris Dingess and Tamara Becher-Wilkinson serving as executive producers. The series is based on characters created for DC by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.

The series returns with three episodes on HBO Max on Thursday, Sept. 23, and then new episodes dropping each week through the season finale on Thursday, Nov. 11.
