HBO tells the origin story of legendary criminal defense attorney Perry Mason with a limited series starring The Americans’ Matthew Rhys.

Perry Mason is set in Los Angeles in 1931. Mason finds himself taking on the case of a child kidnapping, and the path to the truth reveals

Besides Rhys, the series also stars John Lithgow, Tatiana Maslany, Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Stephen Root, Gayle Rankin, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcon, Jefferson Mays, Lili Taylor, Andrew Howard, Eric Lange and Robert Patrick.

The series is executive produced by Amanda Burrell, Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, Ron Fitzgerald, Joe Horacek, Rolin Jones and Timothy Van Patten, who also directs. Aida Rodgers co-executive producers, while Rhys produces. The limited series is created by Rolin Jones and Ron Fitzgerald, and is based on the characters created by Erle Stanley Gardner.

Perry Mason premieres Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
