With the 2013 NFL season fast approaching, ESPN is building its online coverage by adding a “dedicated digital home for each of the 32 NFL teams.”

For the past five seasons, ESPN.com’s “NFL Nation” network has included eight divisional blogs with one writer covering four teams per division. There were also contributions from NFL writers in Boston, Chicago, Dallas and New York.

The new “NFL Nation” will combine these resources with 21 more reporters for the 2013-14 NFL season.

“The expansion of NFL Nation represents one of ESPN Digital’s most ambitious projects in our continuing effort to provide the ultimate personalized experience for fans,” ESPN.com editor-in-chief Patrick Stiegman said in a statement. “Coupled with our highly respected national voices, NFL Nation will provide unprecedented coverage for fans.”

ESPN said that NFL Nation would be prominently featured on the ESPN.com NFL home page. Visitors can also access digital content through customized ESPN apps and sites, mobile alerts, tweets and other methods of personalization.

Brief Take: 32 NFL teams, 32 multimedia reporters. That’s a level of hyper-local football-related information, easily transferrable across any device, that could keep fans engaged with ESPN around the clock.
