YouTube released a list of its highest performing brand channels this week as the first of many monthly checkups and, not surprisingly, some media channels made the cut. Topping the inaugural list is GoPro for the month of March, which was praised for its brand authenticity.

Other brands were chosen based on an algorithm that took into account such factors as a channel’s popularity, audience passion, repeat viewership and number of shares. Also making the Top 5 were Six Pack Shortcuts, PlayStation, Warner Bros. Pictures and Riot Games’ “League of Legends.”

Sony Pictures, “Call of Duty,” Nintendo, Ubisoft and rubber band bracelet company Rainbow Loom rounded out the list.

At the end of each month, YouTube will continue to announce the Top 10 in brand channels.

“As brands continue to blur the line between advertiser and creator, we want to recognize those brands that regularly publish content—paid or otherwise—to build an engaged fanbase,” said YouTube in a blog post. The company also will continue to announce the most-watched ads on YouTube via the monthly Ads Leaderboard.
