GoPro named former Hulu executive Charlotte Koh to oversee its original content initiatives, the company said Tuesday.

At Hulu, Koh headed features and series. In her new position, Koh will be tasked with striking partnerships with Hollywood creatives, studios and networks “to develop and co-produce new content with the help of GoPro’s signature small cameras,” reported Variety.

The company plans to start with unscripted and documentary series, and much of that content — shot with GoPro cameras, natch — already exists online. GoPro also has its own social channels on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other platforms and recently has struck media deals with ESPN and the NHL. Scripted series may be down the road, Koh told Variety.

GoPro also introduced its new Hero4 Session camera this week.

During the three years Koh was at Hulu, she helped develop such shows as Deadbeat, The Awesomes and Behind the Mask. Prior to that, she was SVP of business development at Marvel and a creative executive at Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Koh joins a growing content team at GoPro, which includes Jon Cohen, the company’s new director of content distribution. Both Koh and Cohen report to Zander Lurie, who came over to GoPro from CBS in November.

Brief Take: GoPro’s value proposition has always been based on its ability to build itself into a content brand. The cameras are the tools that get the company there.
