Disappointed with the moderators of the GOP debate on CNBC, The Republican National Committee has decided to suspend its partnership with NBC News for future debates.

RNC chairman Reince Priebus sent a letter to NBC News chairman Andrew Lack Friday, saying that CNBC’s “handling of the debate was conducted in bad faith.”

This means its Feb. 26 debate in Houston will still go on with National Review as a partner but will not air on NBC networks unless further negotiations between NBC and the GOP can reach an agreement.

“We understand that NBC does not exercise full editorial control over CNBC’s journalistic approach,” wrote Priebus in the letter to NBC. “However, the network is an arm of your organization, and we need to ensure there is not a repeat performance.”

Some of the candidates complained from the stage or in post-debate coverage about the moderators and their questions, notably Chris Christie, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

Preibus’ letter also cited several promises that were made to the candidates and not upheld as part of its reasoning to cutting ties with NBC, such as certain issues that would be focused on and an opening question about the economy.

Most of the GOP’s grievances centered on the questions asked of the candidates. “Questions were inaccurate or downright offensive,” said the letter.

An NBC spokeswoman responded to the news on Friday: “This is a disappointing development. However, along with our debate partners at Telemundo we will work in good faith to resolve this matter with the Republican party.”
