“Go ahead, underestimate me. I’ve got it all figured out,” says Sophia (Britt Robertson) to clothing store employee (Community’s Jim Rash), in Netflix’s first official trailer for Girlboss.
The series is inspired by the autobiography #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, founder of fashion empire Nasty Gal. The rags-to-riches dramedy follows Sophia’s short-lived success selling vintages clothes on eBay, and her decision to start her own company after facing backlash from online consumers.
The trailer is packed with well-known faces including Rash, RuPaul, Ellie Reed (Chicago P.D.), Johnny Simmons (The Good Wife) and Dean Norris (Breaking Bad).
Girlboss is created by and executive produced by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect, 30 Rock), who also serves as showrunner. Charlize Theron (Monster, Young Adult), Laverne McKinnon (Denver & Delilah) Christian Ditter (How to Be Single) and Amoruso will also serve as executive producers. Ditter directs all 13-half hour episodes.
Girlboss premieres April 21 on Netflix.
