“I say we do whatever the hell we want to do,” says GLOW producer Sam (Marc Maron), when the show-within-a-show faces the possibility of being canceled.
In Netflix’s trailer for season two, the Gorgeous Ladies of Women Wresting are back, and the plan is to “set the weirdos free and see what happens.”
The next chapter finds them becoming local celebrities, confronting, the good, the bad, and the ugly realities of their newfound fame.
GLOW follows Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling, and Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin ) a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture perfect life is not what it seems.
In season two, they settle into the day day-to-day of making a season of television together while confronting the lingering issues at the heart of their friendship.
GLOW showrunners include Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who executive produce alongside Tara Hermann and Jenji Kohan.
Season two premieres June 29 on Netflix.
