“Toby Fleishman awoke one morning inside the city he’d lived in all his adult life. Many thoughts had crossed Toby’s mind in the hours since he was informed that his ex-wife dropped the kids off a full day earlier than expected. Toby was forced to ask the question that occurred to him nearly every few minutes since his separation: ‘How did I get here?’”

So begins the trailer for FX’s limited series Fleishman Is In Trouble, based on the New York Times best-selling book by Taffy Brodesser-Akner, in which Toby Fleishman (Jesse Eisenberg) is venturing on to New York City’s app-based dating scene after divorcing his wife, Rachel (Claire Danes). Lizzy Caplan and Adam Brody also star as Toby’s old friends, Libby, who seems to be having marital problems herself, and Seth.

The eight-episode series was created for television by Brodesser-Akner, who adapts from her novel and executive produces alongside Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Susannah Grant. Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton (Little Miss Sunshine, Battle of the Sexes) also executive produce as well as direct multiple episodes across the series. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini serve as additional executive producers on the multiple episodes they directed. Fleishman Is In Trouble is produced by ABC Signature.

The first two episodes drop November 17 on Hulu.
