FX, in partnership with Vanity Fair, digs into The Secrets of Hillsong Church in its new four-part docu-series based on investigative reporting by Vanity Fair journalists Alex French and Dan Adler.
Directed by Stacey Lee, The Secrets of Hillsong features the first interviews with former pastors Carl and Laura Lentz since their public ouster from the famous church, which for years counted such celebrities as Justin and Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, Kevin Durant, Kendall Jenner and more among its congregants. Carl Lentz, once one of the Sydney-based megachurch’s most charismatic pastors, had to leave after it was revealed that he had had several extramarital affairs.
Since then, other secrets of the church have come to light, including allegations of sexual assault, child abuse, labor abuse and bullying.
The Secrets of Hillsong is produced by Scout Productions and Vanity Fair Studios. Executive producers include David Collins, Joel Chiodi, Michael Williams, Rob Eric, Agnes Chu, Adler, Sarah Amos and French.
The Secrets of Hillsong premieres Friday, May 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and streams the next day on Hulu.
