Twitter’s Fred Graver is joining Discovery Digital as senior vice president, digital content and social, Discovery Communications announced Wednesday.

Graver was formerly global head of TV for Twitter. In his new role, he will oversee all of the digital network teams across Discovery’s U.S. portfolio. Based in New York, he will report to Karen Leever, executive vice president/general manager, digital media, Discovery Communications.

At Twitter, Graver created innovative ways for broadcasters, showrunners and talent to use Twitter to engage audiences, build loyalty and increase ratings. Besides his work in the U.S., he formed and managed programs across Canada, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany. He created global engagement strategies for The Voice, used in 12 countries, and Big Brother, used in six.

Prior to joining Twitter, Graver was executive vice president of programming at Travel Channel and senior vice president at MTV Networks. The multiple Emmy-award winner is a board member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Writer’s Guild Foundation, the Producer’s Guild of America, the Writer’s Guild of America and The Writer’s Guild Initiative.
