“Why did you help me in the bar that night?” Amy Bendix (Giorgia Whigham) asks Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) in Netflix’s trailer for season two of The Punisher.

“What was I supposed to do?” he responds. “I had to get involved.”

This next chapter finds the former marine-turned-vigilante emerging from his quiet life when he stops her attempted murder, and he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, says Netflix.

In typical Castle fashion, the trailer is heavy on action and violence, showing a lot of blood and gun fights as he attracts a new target on his back, and new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher.

The cast also features Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Josh Stewart (John Pilgrim), and Floriana Lima (Dr. Krista Dumont).

Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer.

The Punisher premieres January 18 on Netflix.
