Fox reorganized its programming team late Monday, combining the development and programming functions, and seeing the drama and comedy teams now reporting directly to COO Joe Earley.

Five Fox executives are getting promotions in the reorg, said Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly.

Suzanna Makkos becomes executive VP of the new comedy development and programming team, overseeing comedy development and series coverage. Her two senior lieutenants will be Lauren Levy Neustadter, who becomes senior VP, and Samata Narra, who is upped to VP.

Terence Carter has been elevated to executive VP of the drama development and programming team, with newly-minted senior VP Charlie Andrews and senior VP James Oh as his lieutenants.

Fox said that senior VP Shana C. Waterman will continue to lead the event series team.

“To be a network of the future, we not only need to contemporize the way we do business, but also build the best teams to support that business. Combining our development and programming functions allows us to provide more cohesive support to shows – from inception to finale – and forge even deeper, more collaborative relationships with the creative community,” said Earley. “Suzanna and Terence are both gifted executives who – in true Fox spirit – aren’t afraid to take big creative swings. I’m thrilled to have them leading these incredible teams and driving our programming efforts to the next level.”

Most recently, Carter oversaw the development of Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow” and “The Following,” as well as “Almost Human” and “Rake.” Before arriving at Fox, he was VP of drama programming at NBC Entertainment/Universal Media Studios, with credits that included “Parenthood,” “Mercy,” and “Kings.”

Makkos’ most recent role was senior VP of comedy development, where she helped bring “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “New Girl,” and “Dads,” to fruition.

Earley also serves as co-chair of the PromaxBDA Board of Directors.
