Fox International Channels (FIC) today announced the launch of Fox Sports in Italy coming in August. The new network will broadcast the British Premier League, Spanish La Liga, French Ligue and FA Cup, in addition to a lineup of signature news and sports talk shows.

“Our goal is to bring all the passion of Fox Sports to the most passionate sports fans around the world,” said Hernan Lopez, president and CEO of FIC, in a statement, “and in this ranking, Italy comes high up on the list.”

FIC has been expanding its sports arm for the past two years, including launches of Fox Sports in Brazil and Japan, as well as the acquisition of a majority stake in Eredivisie Live in the Netherlands and the conversion of Star-ESPN to Fox Sports throughout South East Asia.

With FIC at the helm, Fox Sports has grown from 17 million households outside of the US in 2010 to more than 64 million subscribers worldwide.
