Fox will restructure its event series department and say goodbye to two senior executives, in one of the bigger shakeups to take place at the company since this summer’s elevation of Dana Waldman and Gary Newman to the top of the Fox Television Group.
Shana C. Waterman, senior VP of event series and multiplatform programing, and Jeni Mulein, a VP in the same department, will leave Fox by the end of the month, Variety reported Monday.
Entertainment president David Madden is expected to step in and shepherd the event and longform development in the interim.
Gracepoint is currently the only event series on the Fox lineup, with Wayward Pines from M. Night Shyamalan on tap for later in the season.
The shakeup shouldn’t be taken as a sign that Fox is backing away from limited series programming, Variety reported. The network has had mixed results in the limited series area, with 24: Live Another Day scoring a ratings win with viewers, but Gracepoint off to a sluggish start.
Brief Take: With broadcasters putting more faith in event and limited series, Fox Television’s new leadership is moving a new team into place to bring those series to air.
