Fox has rolled out an upgrade to its Fox Now video app that serves up personalized recommendations about what to watch next based on a viewer’s habits and preferences.
The new feature is designed to keep viewers watching more video inside the app. Fox Now allows users to watch recent episodes of popular Fox series like “The Following,” “The Mindy Project,” and “24: Live Another Day,” the day after their first broadcast airing.
The network has doubled the number of subscribers who have access to its TV Everywhere platform in the past year. In addition to adding the personalized recommendations, the upgraded app also includes third-party ad insertion, and continuous-playback—boosting the chances of watching more video even higher.
Fox told Variety that different shows perform better on different platforms, with “24” and “Cosmos” most popular on mobile, while animation reigned supreme on Xbox One.
