Diehard “American Idol” fans will get the chance to see a live screening of this season’s premiere the day before the broadcast bow, complete with a Q&A with the celebrity judging panel.

Fox announced the 20-city screenings Tuesday in a move designed to build online buzz and fan engagement ahead of the Season 13 “Idol” two-night premiere on Jan. 15 and 16. on Tuesday Jan. 14.

The screenings, mostly slated for local AMC cinemas in the host cities, will start at 7pm ET/4pm PT, on Jan. 14, with the interactive Q&A featuring Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr., kicking off 90 minutes later. “Idol” fans can sign up via idolrsvp.com for a screening in one of 20 venues from Boston to Los Angeles.

The judges will be participating from the Los Angeles venue, UCLA’s Royce Hall, and Fox is hoping fans will drive the conversation around the premiere on Twitter and Facebook by submitting questions via Idol’s handle and page. Questions can also be submitted on the day of the event using the Twitter hashtag #AskIdol.

The network is also driving traffic to its Idol website by offering the Q&A as a live stream on AmericanIdol.com.
